SJ21 Fleet 28, Glenmore Sailing Club and Penticton Yacht Club cordially invite you to join us for the San Juan 21 2024 Western Nationals Regatta to be sailed in the beautiful thermal winds of southern Lake Okanagan.

This year we're hosting the Western Nationals back to back with the legendary End To End Race (Penticton - Kelowna - Vernon) hosted by the Kelowna Yacht Club on September 7 & 8.

Amendments 1 and 2 to Sailing Instructions have been posted. Amendment 1 contains course diagrams. Amendment 2 contains miscellaneous information about on-course flags and pins.

September 2, 2024

Meal plan update!  

• The PYC club house and bar are closed Tuesday September 3rd, so we are on our own for breakfast and dinner. We'll be hosting a Dock Party after the Practice Race on the evening of the 3rd with Pizza and drinks provided.

• Meals on September 4th and 5th may be purchased a la carte at the club house, or as a package in advance at on site registration on September 3rd (preferred).

• PYC is pleased to offer prepaid meal packages as follows:

Option 1. Full Meal Package - $160 p/p

Buffet breakfast Wednesday Sept 4 & Thursday September 5 8:00 – 10:30AM

Bag lunches for pickup Sept 4 & 5 @ 10AM

Buffet dinner Sept 4 & 5

 

Option 2. Breakfast & Lunch Package - $80 p/p

The Kelowna Yacht Club has just opened registration for the End to End race which will take place on the 7th and 8th of September, just after the Western Nationals wraps up.  We expect a fleet of about 5 or 6 San Juan 21s in this event, so if you're up for a Big Adventure, register here:

It's a separate event and not affiliated with the Western Nationals so separate registration will be required.  Please note that equipment requirements may differ from what you'll need for the Western Nationals, so please read the race documents carefully.

• The Chef at PYC has curated an incredible menu for our event, which has been posted under "Supplementary Information" above.  Meals Ashore may be purchased a la carte at the clubhouse restaurant, or may be purchased as a package in advance at on site registration. Lunches afloat MUST be ordered in advance at on site registration so the Chef knows how many to prepare.  Meals may be picked up at the clubhouse restaurant before heading out for the day's racing.

• Don't forget to renew your SJ21 Class Association Membership before the event. You must be a member in good standing to participate.  Renew online here.

• The Skipper must also be a member of either US Sailing, a US Sailing accredited club, or a Sail Canada accredited club.  If you're not, you can join US Sailing here, or you can quickly become a Sail Canada member online via the Ontario Maple Leaf Kiteboarding Programme here (you don't need to be a kiteboarder!).

• Charter Boat Agreements are now available. Glenmore Sailing Club is able to make 4 boats available for this event. Boats will be assigned on a first-come, first served basis per the terms of the Agreement.  To be considered, all requests for charter boats must be received by the Organizing Authority by 6pm MDT on August 15th, 2024.
